How is the estimate calculated?
Platforms share part of their ad revenue with creators. RPM (revenue per 1,000 views) sums up what the creator actually earns, after the platform’s share.
The calculator starts from an RPM range observed for each format, then adjusts it for the audience’s country (advertisers pay more in the US or Switzerland than in North Africa) and the niche (finance earns more than entertainment).
Shorts and TikTok pay far less per view than long videos: their revenue is shared among many creators and their ads are shorter.
Reference RPMs used
| Format | Low RPM | High RPM |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube | €1.20 | €3.50 |
| YouTube Shorts | €0.03 | €0.09 |
| TikTok | €0.25 | €0.90 |
Average ranges for a French audience, before country and niche adjustment.
FAQ
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?
For a European audience, often between €1 and €4 for a monetised long video, depending on niche and season. Shorts pay a few cents per 1,000 views.
How much does TikTok pay for 1 million views?
With the Creator Rewards Program, usually a few hundred euros per million eligible views, varying widely by country and watch time.
Why a range and not an exact number?
Earnings vary from one video to the next (ads shown, length, time of year). An honest range is more useful than a misleading number.
Do bought views get monetised?
Views from compliant ad campaigns count like normal views, but only views that serve ads generate revenue.
